In-Hospital LabIn-Hospital Lab

When your pet is not feeling well, we all want answers as soon as possible.  We have a state of the art in-hospital laboratory where can run blood chemistries, complete blood counts, and endocrine levels.  We are also able to test for infectious diseases, and screen for parasites.   Our well-equipped lab allows us to offer same day results, often within 20-30 minutes, to help evaluate the function of internal organs, screen for some diseases, evaluate the immune system, check for parasites and parasite-borne diseases, and diagnose infectious diseases like Canine Parvovirus, Feline Leukemia Virus, and Feline Immunodificeincy Virus. We also work with a local laboratory for next-day results for tests we do not perform here.

Dental CareDental Care

Regular professional evaluation and care is important for maintaining your pet's oral health. Our pets are often much more uncomfortable than they want us to know when their teeth and gums are infected or damaged.  Chronic untreated dental disease has been shown to cause or worsen chronic kidney and heart valve diseases, which can shorten the life of your pet.  If your pet should need a dental procedure, our trained and experienced staff uses the best available equipment.  Dental X-Rays are performed on most of our patients because dental disease in the tooth roots and under the gum line can be undiagnosed by just examining the teeth above the gum line.   If surgical extractions are needed, we use a high powered dental drill to minimize the trauma and quicken healing.   We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Advanced dental care is available by referral, including root canals, caps and braces.

Anesthesia and SurgeryAnesthesia and Surgery

We offer the most advanced anesthesia and surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Our fully trained veterinary and technical staff monitors your pet from admission to discharge.  All patients have an IV catheter inserted and are placed on IV fluids for the entire anesthetic procedure.  This gives us access in the event that medications are needed on short notice and allows us to treat blood pressure changes immediately.  All patients are given pain medication and are placed on a table with circulating warm air.  Patients are connected to a monitor for the entire procedure that helps us observe  the ECG, heart rate, pulse, oxygen levels, carbon dioxide levels, breathing rate and depth, body temperature, and blood pressure.  Any changes in these can be addressed immediately to help make anesthesia as safe as possible. RadiologyRadiology

Radiology – or X-rays – are an important part of our diagnostic care in some pets.  Radiographs allow us to evaluate the structure of internal organs and bones, joints, and muscles.  This gives us another tool for diagnosing diseases, syndromes, and trauma, as well as help with follow-up of some conditions.

Micro-ChippingMicrochipping

The microchip is a tiny computer chip which has an identification number programmed into it and is encapsulated within a biocompatible material. The whole device is small enough to fit inside a hypodermic needle and can be simply injected under the skin of our pets, where it will stay for the life of the animal. The computer memory in the AVID Microchip contains a unique number - no two animals will ever have the same number. A radio signal is used to read this number through the skin of your pet. In addition to the number, the microchip generates a reliability check to guarantee that your pet's identifying number is read accurately. This all takes place in less than 40 milliseconds. This provides a permanent, positive identification which cannot be lost, altered or intentionally removed - a safe, simple and inexpensive way to protect your pet against loss or theft.
