Meals on Wheels for Pets
According to the Niagara County Nutritional Program that manages Meals on Wheels, 380 daily meals are currently served in our community. However, this falls short of meeting the needs of their cherished pets. Meals on Wheels recipients often share their meals with their beloved pet, but this selfless act actually means that both receive less.
Our goal in establishing Niagara County's first Meals on Wheels for Pets program is to provide quality nutritious meals for their furry friends, thus enabling everyone in the home to receive proper meals every day.
Bull Terrier Club of America
The BTCA Rescue Support Committee was formed in 1995 to financially help regional bull terrier clubs with their rescue expenses. The BTCA board recognized that many regional clubs did not have the funds to support rescue. The BTCA board felt they had a responsibility to the breed and to the regional clubs, as the parent club, to assist with funding.
Regional clubs are on the front line of rescue. They are the ones looked upon as caretakers of the breed. It is through their commitment, that bull terriers in need are rescued, rehabilitated and placed. Fortunately, for bull terriers, there are also individuals who assist with rescue that are not close to a regional club.

United States War Dogs Association
Military Working Dogs have been used by the U.S. Military since World War I. American families donated their dogs to the military to aid our troops during wartime. Dogs, along with their volunteer handlers, trained in teams as scouts, trackers, sentry, mine/booby-trap/tunnel and water detection of hostile forces. Dogs were used in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.
It has been estimated that these courageous canine heroes saved over 10,000 lives during the conflict in Vietnam.
Today all branches of our Armed Forces are utilizing Military Patrol Dogs specializing in Drug and Bomb/Explosive detection. There are approximately 600-700 of these canines in the Middle East in such places as Kuwait, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. They are being used to patrol Air Bases, Military Compounds, Ammunition Depots and Military Check Points. They are guarding and protecting our Military Personnel as they were trained to do, with Courage, Loyalty and Honor.

Wild Kritters of Niagara County
Wild Kritters of Niagara County is a non-profit group of State & Federally licensed volunteers who rescue injured & orphaned wildlife in distress. Wild Kritters cares for and raises the animals to be released back to the wild as quickly as possible.
With proper medical care, and intensive nursing practices most the animals rescued will be released back to their natural habitat. This is often time intensive and each animal has unique needs because of injuries and nutritional status. The day comes to release or "foster kids" and all of the efforts & time are worth it. Wild Kritters get animals native to our area along with the migratory birds that are federally protected, and even some non-native animals . Yep several years ago we got an alligator, the DEC helped get him back to a proper environment.
