We Recommend
Annual Wellness
- Our pets cannot speak for themselves and depend on us to recognize signs of illness. Your veterinarian is trained to detect signs of illness and recommend treatment.
- Our goal is to help your pet live a long, happy and healthy life.
Vaccinations
- Our veterinarians will create a vaccine schedule for your pets' individual needs based national standards and current recommendations.
- Rabies vaccinations are required by law in order to protect human health.
Intestinal Parasite Control for all Pets
- Worm eggs are microscopic and cannot be seen with the naked eye, therefore we will check a stool sample at least once yearly.
- Deworming all dogs and cats in a household once yearly will help us control intestinal parasites.
- Outdoor pets have even greater exposure and should be dewormed or tested quarterly.
- Because intestinal parasites can be present in our pets without causing symptoms, we recommend intestinal parasite control for ALL pets, regardless of health status. This also helps us comply with the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control to prevent transmission of parasites from pets to people.
Annual Blood Parasites Screens for Dogs
- This quick test detects heartworm and common tick-borne illnesses.
- This test also screens for Lyme disease, which is increasingly prevalent in our area.
Monthly Heartworm Prevention for Dogs - ALL Year Round
- It is better to prevent heartworm disease than to treat it
- Heartworm preventatives also control common intestinal parasites like roundworms and hookworms. These parasites are present all year and can also affect humans.
Flea-Tick Prevention
- External parasites can cause a variety of dermatologic and systemic diseases.
- The products we recommend are the safest and most effective flea and tick products available. Ask us what is right for your pet.
Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus testing
- These potentially fatal retro-viruses can "hide" in a cat or kitten that seems perfectly healthy.
- These diseases are very contagious.
- Cats who will be living strictly indoors should be tested upon arrival into their new homes BEFORE being introduced to any existing household cats.
- Outdoor cats should be tested yearly or when ill
Spaying and Neutering Your Pet Between 6-8 Months of Age
- Spaying and neutering before puberty can decrease the chance for problems later in life.
- A spayed or neutered pet will experience fewer behavior problems and is less likely to roam, making it less likely to be hit by a car.
Keeping Your Pet's Teeth Clean and Healthy
- Dental disease can cause systemic illness such as heart murmurs and kidney failure.
- Ignoring dental disease decreases life expectancy by 2-6years.
- We can show you how to keep your pet's teeth clean and healthy at home, or how we can professionally clean your pet's teeth here at the clinic.
Semi-Annual Senior Wellness Exams Ataring at 8 Years of Age
- For seniors, waiting 6 months between exams is like waiting 5 years between checkups for you and me.
- Senior pets can change rapidly and early management for any problems improves the outcome.
Annual Senior Wellness Profiles starting at 8 years of age
- These blood and urine tests provide a snapshot of your pet's current health and screen for problems that commonly occur as our pets age.
- Detecting problems early - even before the pet shows symptoms - allows for better treatment
